A current member of the West Indies senior cricket team has been accused of sexual harassment and rape.
A Caribbean media report claims that up to eleven women, including one teenager, have alleged incidents involving rape, sexual assault, or unsolicited sexual advances by the player.
According to a report by West Indies-based media outlet SportsMax TV, the cricketer in question is from Guyana and is currently part of the West Indies national team. However, no official case has been registered against him as of yet.
The report states that at least 11 women, including a teenage girl, have accused the player of sexual harassment, assault, or rape.
It further alleges that efforts were made to cover up the cricketer’s alleged actions.
When SportsMax TV reached out to Cricket West Indies for comment, its president, Kishore Shallow, said he was not in a position to comment at this time.
It has also been revealed that the player was part of the team that defeated Australia in Brisbane in January 2024, and upon returning home after the tour, he received a grand welcome in Guyana.
Renowned lawyer Nigel Hughes said that he was first contacted by an alleged victim two years ago. Although no legal action was taken at the time, investigations into the matter have recently resumed.
This incident could pose a serious challenge for West Indies cricket, particularly as the team strives to improve its performance on the international stage.
