A wedding in Sonipat, a city in the Indian state of Haryana, descended into chaos when the groom’s father suddenly screamed, ‘It’s all gone!’ The police were called immediately, and an investigation was launched.
According to Indian media (News 18), the incident happened during a wedding ceremony at a guest house on Saturday night, where the groom and bride were exchanging loving glances. Unbeknownst to the family, thieves had targeted the groom’s uncle.
The groom’s uncle had placed a bag containing 5.4 lakh rupees on a chair while he went to take pictures. The thieves seized the opportunity, quietly snatching the bag and fleeing the scene. As soon as the groom’s father realized the money was missing, panic spread through the celebration, and the police were notified.
The groom’s uncle explained that he had handed the bag to the groom’s father before stepping away. The father had left the bag on a chair, which the thieves took. The entire incident was caught on CCTV, showing a young man picking up the bag while another suspicious figure was seen following him.
The police reviewed the footage and saw two young men, one sitting near the chair and the other walking around. The groom’s uncle identified them as the prime suspects. After the complaint, the police registered a case and began their investigation.
The police spokesperson confirmed the case and mentioned that the incident occurred at the Geetanjali Garden banquet hall on Murthal Road. Investigations are ongoing, and the authorities are working to track down the culprits based on the CCTV evidence.
