MULTAN: Senior Vice President and Chief Organizer of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PMLN) Maryam Nawaz has announced that the party has started full-scale preparations for elections, and that PMLN would sweet elections in southern Punjab.
Addressing a news conference here on Monday, she said no matter if there are going to be general elections, or by polls, the party needs to be fully prepared.
Recalling her days of facing accountability, Maryam Nawaz claimed that during custody, she had been to a death cell in Multan, appeared before courts sometimes twice a day, and Nawaz Sharif was expelled (from office) merely on the basis of Iqama and for not drawing salary from his own son.
Referring to PTI leaders, she said no accountability had started as yet and they (PTI leaders) had started crying, adding that justice would be done. She further said “during last four years, no one could even touch them (PTI leaders) but ‘this facility’ wasn’t available for me or Nawaz Sharif.”
Maryam Nawaz alleged Imran Khan sold Toshakhana watch, received foreign funding and there were plenty of other evidences against him, but he wasn’t being touched for being head of a political party.
Referring to the ‘court arrest’ movement announced by PTI Chief Imran Khan, she said “we are waiting to see the start of that movement, and the same should start from Zaman Park (Lahore residence of Imran Khan).”
When asked about IMF program, she accused PTI of ‘mortgaging Pakistan with IMF’, adding that despite wishing relief for the masses, the government was in no position to provide the same, and that IMF’s conditions were very touch. She said the government was in IMF program for public interest and Pakistan would have to accept conditions of the global lender as loan tranche has been linked with hike in prices.
She further said that the coalition government needed time to right the wrong of past four years and put economy back on the track.
