At a time when there is a rising threat of large-scale war between India and Pakistan following Indian missile attacks on various locations in Pakistan, most countries, including Muslim nations and those traditionally considered friends of Islamabad, are urging both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and de-escalate tensions.
At this stage, no country has openly offered military support to Pakistan. However, some nations, including China and Turkey, have reportedly been supporting Pakistan through technical and diplomatic means.
Brief overview of the roles played by different countries:
China
China has expressed hope for restraint and welcomed efforts to de-escalate tensions, indicating a diplomatic stance supportive of peace but not explicitly backing Pakistan militarily.
On the diplomatic front, China has openly backed Pakistan and announced its intention to assist Pakistan in its defense efforts. However, there are reports that China is covertly providing full technical support and supplying military equipment to Pakistan.
Turkiye:
Officially, Turkiye did not provide or announce any military support to Pakistan, however, there are reports that this Muslim country is providing technical help to Islamabad in the ongoing war-like situation between India and Pakistan.
Iran:
Iran has proposed to mediate between India and Pakistan to reduce tensions, showing a role as a regional peace broker rather than a direct supporter in conflict.
Gulf states:
Different Gulf States have been engaged in dialogue with Pakistan and India, with Pakistan’s Defense Minister mentioning outreach to allied Gulf countries, but no explicit military support has been reported.
Bangladesh and UAE
Both countries have expressed support for peace talks rather than taking a side in the conflict, however, there are reports that Dhaka has halted economic ties with India after its tensions with Pakistan.
