KARACHI: Popular morning host Nida Yasir has landed into trouble once again in an apologetic video on interviewing the parents of a minor rape victim.
As clips of the segment circulated on social media, Yasir received severe backlash as many demanded a ban on her show. She has subsequently apologised for hurting the audience’s sentiments and asking questions that made Mawrah’s parents upset.
The TV host released a video apologising for asking insensitive questions from the parents of 5-year-old girl Marwah who was raped and murdered earlier this month. Renowned social media influencer Waqar Zaka recently also rebuffed her claims.
In the video, Yasir claimed that it was not her team that approached Mawrah’s parents but rather it was they had approached her to receive media support. However, Zaka claimed she had herself invited Mawrah’s parents to her show.
Waqar shared a video of an activist who spoke to the victim’s uncle. When asked if contacted the channel or Nida Yasir, he refused and said that they approached them and not the other way around. He said they did not know anyone in the media and were contacted by several media outlets when the minor girl was found dead.
Nida also said that the victim’s family has thanked her and subsequently First Information Report (FIR) was registered. It has already been known that a case was registered after the minor went missing.
Jee @Salman_ARY why don’t you change the Morning show host ? call for auditions , give chance to a new face, there are many out there on social media, who are more family rating getter than Nida Yasir & above all more sensible. Public wants to see Fresh face in your morning show. https://t.co/MtN8Urc2Ir
