Yash Chopra’s beloved film Veer-Zaara, released in 2004, continues to capture hearts two decades later, surpassing the Rs 100 crore mark globally following its re-release on September 13.
Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta, the film amassed Rs 23 lakh overseas during this latest release, bringing its total for September to Rs 1.80 crore. Earlier this year, it had also earned Rs 30 lakh from a prior re-release.
Initially, the romantic drama grossed Rs 61 crore in India and Rs 37 crore internationally, totaling Rs 98 crore. Over time, it added another Rs 2.5 crore, bringing its worldwide earnings to Rs 102.60 crore.
Produced by Yash Raj Films, Veer-Zaara marked the third directorial venture between Yash Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan, following Darr and Dil To Pagal Hai. The film features an ensemble cast including Rani Mukerji, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Manoj Bajpayee, Boman Irani, Kirron Kher, Anupam Kher, and Divya Dutta.
The story follows the poignant love between an Indian soldier and a Pakistani woman, who are tragically separated when he is imprisoned in Pakistan. Rani Mukerji’s character battles to reunite the couple after years apart.
