BEIJING: Deputy Director-General of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lijian Zhao has said that H1N1 flu in the United killed more people as compared to the outbreak in China.
The statement of Lijian Zhao came after the tweet of the US journalist Walter Russell Mead that criticised China over the ongoing epidemic coronavirus.
In his tweet, Mead wrote, “Coronavirus won’t be the last black swan to manifest in China, and its financial markets may be a greater danger than the wildlife markets.”
… H1N1 flu that broke out in US in 2009 has a mortality rate as high as 17.4%. According to US CDC, 2019-2020 seasonal influenza in US has infected 19 million people & killed at least 10000 people. Compared with the outbreak in China, Mr. Mead, anything more you’d like to say? https://t.co/tZw9lqPad8
