The death toll in United States from coronavirus has surged past 1000 today (Thursday) and over 68,000 reported cases, according to international news channel.
The news channel reported that the deaths continued to rise in New York. There have been at least 334 deaths from coronavirus. New York is being called the epic centre of epidemic on US.
In this regard, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said, “We still have the trajectory going up. We have not turned the trajectory, nor have we hit the apex.”
The governor further said that there seemed to be some early evidence that New York’s density control plan could be helping to slow hospitalization rate projections but he appeared to treat the signs with caution at this stage.
According to US government data, the novel coronavirus has caused economic burden showing a record number of Americans seeking unemployment benefits and hospitals struggled to treat a surge of infected patients.
Roughly half of US were under lockdown to contain the outbreak of coronavirus, with the side effects of strangling economy and unleashing a wave of layoffs.
The number of Americans filing claims for unemployment benefits surged to a record of nearly 3.28 million last week.
