An Urban Flood Rescue Unit of the Security Division has been set up in Karachi to deal with the emergency situation during monsoon rains.
Earlier, the Meteorological Department had forecast more rains than usual in Karachi during the monsoon season this year. In this regard, Urban Flooding Rescue Unit has been formed under the leadership of DIG Security Division Maqsood Ahmed.

Equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, the SSU commandos, along with small boats and small boats, will be on 24-hour alert to deal with any emergencies in the low-lying areas during rains to evacuate civilians.
On the occasion, DIG Security and Emergency Services Division Maqsood Ahmed said that the commandos of the urban rescue team have received training of lifeguards from experts. The unit also gave a practical demonstration on how to evacuate people trapped in the water.
It may be recalled that last year, the Sindh Provincial Disaster Management Authority had issued flood warnings due to the flood situation in 15 districts of the province. Due to the flash floods, high-level floods were observed at Guddu Barrage in the Indus River during September last year while moderate floods were observed at Sukkur Barrage.
