Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme Rubina Khalid has stated that underprivileged and disadvantaged youth will be provided with skills training to secure employment, ensuring poverty alleviation.
During a meeting with the President of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), Rehan Naseem Bharara, Rubina Khalid stated that, upon FCCI’s recommendations, the focus has shifted from creating permanent dependents to empowering the poor with skills training.
She emphasized that various institutions, under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), will arrange skill training aligned with market demands in consultation with industrialists. This will enable youth to find jobs and become self-reliant for their families.
The BISP Chairperson added that this initiative will not only provide employment opportunities to the youth but also ensure industries have access to skilled workers as per their requirements. Efforts will also be made to activate the women’s training center at Faisalabad Garments City with the cooperation of government training institutions.
She highlighted that progress will be reviewed every 15 days, and challenges will be addressed to ensure the smooth implementation of the program. Senior Vice President FCCI Qaiser Shams Gucha, Member of National Assembly Syed Ali Qasim Gilani, and other dignitaries were present during the meeting.
