GENEVA: The UN Security Council failed to vote on the resolution for a cease-fire in Gaza for the third day. The humanitarian resolution was presented by the United Arab Emirates.
According to the details, the voting process in the Security Council was postponed for the third time while the series of barbaric attacks by Israel continues in Gaza, during which the number of martyred Palestinians has increased to more than 20,000, including thousands of women and children.
During the Security Council meeting at the Manhattan headquarters, members discussed and debated the situation in Gaza. In the meantime, the voting process was delayed by giving one more day for diplomacy. It was decided that voting would be held again on Thursday.
The United States, a permanent member of the Security Council, raised objections to the use of the word “ceasefire” in the resolution. The United States has previously vetoed a similar resolution, while Israel threatened that the war will continue until the end of Hamas.
A cease-fire was demanded in the operation forum between Russia and Arabs in Morocco, after which some experts say that the international pressure for a cease-fire on Israel has increased. An analyst at the International Crisis Group says that at the moment, everyone’s eyes are on the resolution.
The UAE, the country that submitted the draft of the resolution, approved the request to postpone the voting for 1 day on Monday, while for the first time the ceasefire resolution on the issue of Gaza, which was vetoed by the United States, was approved by the UAE.
