GENEVA: The United Nations has described the practice of taking labour from 160 million children around the world as shameful.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres said in a tweet that today 160 million children around the world are victims of child labor, which is a shameful act.

Antonio Guterres wrote that the total number of children around the world is around 1.6 billion, therefore, 1 out of every 10 children is engaged in labour.
The Secretary General of the United Nations said, “On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Child Labour this year, we must pledge to redouble our efforts to protect the rights of children from exploitation and labour.”
It should be noted that the International Day Against Child Labour is being celebrated today with the aim of ending child labour.
The purpose of celebrating World Day Against Child Labour every year is to free young children from the tortures of labour and show them the way to school and to promote general awareness among the people to make them useful citizens of society.
