The United States has urged India and Pakistan to avoid further deterioration of the situation amid rising tensions following the Pahalgam attack, as reported by international media.
According to details, U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said during a press briefing that both Pakistan and India are being contacted regarding the situation in Kashmir, and they are being asked not to escalate tensions.
In response to a question, Tammy Bruce stated that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will speak with the foreign ministers of Pakistan and India either today or tomorrow. He is also encouraging other national leaders and foreign ministers to reach out to Pakistan and India on this issue.
The State Department spokesperson said that steps are being taken on a daily basis regarding this matter. Ministers are directly speaking with their counterparts in Pakistan and India, and it is expected that this will have the same impact as when the Secretary speaks with other individuals.
The U.S. State Department spokesperson stated that under the leadership of President Trump, such talks are certainly important for Pakistan and India.
In response to another question, Tammy Bruce said that the U.S. is monitoring the situation. There is contact with the governments of Pakistan and India not only at the foreign minister level but on multiple levels, and the parties are being urged to find a responsible resolution as the world is watching this situation.
She said that at this moment, the most important thing is the outcome of Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s talks.
It is worth noting that tensions between Pakistan and India have escalated after the killing of 26 Indian tourists in the Pahalgam area of Indian-administered Kashmir.
In response to actions taken by India, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, Pakistan has also responded strongly.
