Two Pakistani female peacekeepers have been honored for their “outstanding performance and commitment” to promoting the ideals of the United Nations, according to the military’s media wing.
As per the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major Sania Safdar, who served in the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus, and Major Komal Masood, who served in the Central African Republic, were awarded the Gender Advocacy Award by the Under Secretary General of the Department of Peace Operations at UNHQ.
Both officers demonstrated “exceptional professionalism and dedication” while working in international environments, making significant contributions to the mission’s efforts to promote peace and stability, particularly in advancing women’s meaningful participation in peacekeeping operations. The ISPR noted that their roles in peacekeeping were acknowledged by respective Mission Force Commanders.
“This recognition is a testament to Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the UN Peacekeeping mandate, showcasing the professionalism and diligent efforts of Pakistani peacekeepers to make a positive impact,” the statement added. Pakistan remains dedicated to playing a “pivotal role as a responsible member of the international community,” actively supporting the ideals of global peace and security through its involvement in UN Peacekeeping Missions.
