QUETTA: Two Pakistan Army personnel were martyred on Sunday during a security patrol operation in the Balor area of Hoshab district of Balochistan.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said a combat patrol of security forces was initiated in area Balor based on credible intelligence on the movement of a group of terrorists, linked with previous firing incidents on security forces and civilians and planting of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED).
The military’s press wing said while security forces were setting up blocking positions to cut escape routes, a group of terrorists attempted to ambush closing in patrol and opened fire on security forces.
As a result of heavy exchange of fire, two soldiers, Major Saqib Hussain and Naik Baqir Ali, embraced martyrdom while another soldier got injured.
The ISPR said security forces remain determined to thwart such attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan. It said a follow up operation to nab the perpetrators has been launched in the area.
Earlier, four security personnel including three police officials and member of Frontier Corps were martyred in attacks on a check post in Sherani district of Balochistan.
One terrorist was killed in retaliatory firing. SP Sherani Irfan Ali said the terrorists attacked on Dana Sar police check post and martyred three policemen.
Sherani Deputy Commissioner said the exchange of firing between the security forces and the terrorists continued for almost two hours. He said the accomplices of the injured terrorist succeeded in taking them away.
Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the check post.
