SAN FRANCISCO: Facebook and Google have planned on working together on a project that uses individuals’ personal data to track the coronavirus disease.
Through this project, the location of the individual will be collected from smartphones.
A spokesman from Google, Johnny Luu confirmed that they were exploring ways that aggregated anonymized location information could help in the fight against COVID-19.
People in the United States are advised to quarantine themselves if necessary and monitor the appearance of any symptoms.
The US has reported 150 deaths from the coronavirus as of 18th March. The country’s case tally is at 9,240, with patients reported in all 50 states. The World Health Organization declared the outbreak a pandemic in March and two days later President Donald Trump declared a national emergency.
