RAJANPUR: In a major security operation, a big terror plan was foiled by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Rajanpur.
According to CTD spokesperson, five terrorists belonging to the banned organization TTP (Jamaat-ul-Ahrar) were planning to launch an attack on law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in the area. The terrorists, who were equipped with arms and explosives, were reportedly present in the Rojhan police limits.
Upon receiving the tip-off, the CTD team immediately reached the spot. However, upon seeing the law enforcement officials, the terrorists opened fire, prompting a fierce gun battle. The terrorists then split themselves into two groups in an attempt to escape, but two of them were killed in the shootout.
The slain terrorists were identified as Ilyas alias Abdullah, who hailed from Mardan, and Irfanullah alias Qari, who belonged to District Mohmand Agency. The remaining three terrorists managed to flee the scene.
During the search of the area, the CTD team recovered a significant amount of weapons and explosives, including 1 Kalashnikov with 1 magazine and 31 rounds, 2 Pistols 30 bore with 20 rounds, explosives weighing 1500 grams, and 2 Prima card length 9 feet.
