LAHORE: Konya Metropolitan Municipality Turkish Sufi Music and Sema Ensemble members performed Sema at the “Sufi Night” event held in Lahore the other day. The event was arranged in cooperation with Turkish Embassy and Turkish Consulate in Lahore in scope of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Pakistan and Turkey.

Turkish Consul General in Lahore, Mr.Emir Özbay hosted the event. Minister of Health of Punjab, Mrs.Dr.Yasmin Rashid attended the event as the guest of honor. Ambassador Prof.Dr.Mehmet Paçacı and Mrs. Meryem Paçacı also participated to the event.
Earlier in the day, Members of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Turkish Sufi Music and Sema Ensemble visited the historical Badşahi Mosque built in 1673 in Lahore.
Turkish whirling dervishes performed a whirling dervish show in the garden of the mosque, accompanied by Turkish mysticism, after the afternoon prayer. Those who came to visit the mosque watched the sema show with great interest.
After the performance, the whirling dervishes visited the tomb of Pakistan’s national poet Muhammad Iqbal, located in front of the mosque.
Speaking on this occasion, Semazenbaşı Celalettin Berberoğlu said they were honored to be in Pakistan, a friendly and brotherly country, based on Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi’s motto that covers all humanity.
