Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has arrived in Islamabad for a two-day visit to Pakistan, accompanied by his wife. He has a busy schedule in Pakistan today (Thursday).
According to national media, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif invited President Erdoğan, who was welcomed at Islamabad Airport by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and other senior officials.
First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Defense Minister Khawaja Asif were also present to receive the Turkish president. Children presented bouquets to President Erdoğan and his wife.
As the distinguished guest’s aircraft entered Pakistani airspace, Pakistan Air Force’s JF-17 fighter jets escorted it to Islamabad. A military band welcomed the Turkish president with a traditional performance, while schoolchildren dressed in traditional attire greeted him. A 21-gun salute was given in his honor upon arrival.
National media reported citing sources that President Erdoğan will hold separate meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari during his visit. He will address the Pak-Turk Business and Investment Forum alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where leading investors, companies, and business representatives from both sides will participate.
A statement from the Foreign Office spokesperson states that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Erdoğan will co-chair the seventh meeting of the Pakistan-Turkey High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council during the visit.
The Foreign Office also stated that President Erdoğan will have a busy schedule in Pakistan on February 13. He will meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss bilateral cooperation, trade relations, and various other sectors. These meetings will also cover global political developments, particularly the latest situation in Gaza.
