In an effort to modernize the traffic management system and enhance road safety, the Sindh Police has announced plans to soon introduce an electronic challan (e-challan) system in Karachi.
The announcement was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Inspector General (IG) Sindh Police Ghulam Nabi Memon at the Central Police Office on Monday. The meeting focused on the restructuring and modernization of the provincial traffic units.
Traffic officials provided a detailed briefing on road accidents and proposed reforms aimed at reducing them.
A major highlight of the meeting was the unveiling of the upcoming e-ticketing system, under which traffic violation tickets will be issued digitally and delivered directly to the violators’ residences.
This will eliminate the need for the public to interact directly with traffic personnel.
IG Sindh stated that the initiative will offer greater convenience to citizens and bring transparency to the enforcement of traffic laws. He also revealed that new speed-monitoring equipment, such as speedometers and speed guns, will be procured to accurately monitor overspeeding violations.
Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho added that consultations are ongoing with relevant departments and stakeholders to ensure effective enforcement of traffic regulations.
He emphasized that traffic police serve as the face of the department, and enhancing their performance is essential.
