LAHORE: Three men were crushed to death when a dumper-truck ran over their motorcycle in Lahore on Sunday.
According to sources, the accident occurred in front of Gora Qabristan near Bhatti Chowk where a rashly-driven dumper hit a motorcycle, killing three persons on the spot. The driver of the dumper managed to escape from the scene after the accident.
Police and rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the dead bodies to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities. According to rescue sources, the deceased men were identified as Umar, Zahid and Ali.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar has expressed sorrow over the death of three youths. The chief minister also sought a detailed inquiry report from the concerned authorities and ordered action against the negligent driver under the law.
It is worth mentioning here that accidents have occurred frequently on roads linking different cities owing to negligence from drivers.
Earlier, an ill-fated passenger van, carrying 22 passengers, coming to Karachi from Hyderabad overturned near the cerement factory at the motorway and caught the fire.
At least 17 people on board the vehicle died in the accident. The accident occurred after a bonnet of a vehicle hit the ill-fated passenger van due to over speeding, causing it to crash and later catch fire.
