KARACHI: Three members of a family were killed when the roof of their house partially collapsed in Gulistan-e-Johar area of Karachi on Tuesday night.
The roof situated at the upper floor of a four-storey residential building partially collapsed at night, crushing three people to death under the debris. Rescue teams reached the spot and retrieved the dead bodies from the rubble and shifted them to hospital.
The deceased were identified as Aurangzeb Memon, his wife Shiza and son Abdul Hadi, and are said to be the residents of Nawabshah.
PTI MNA Alamigir Khan also reached the site on the incident. He claimed that the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) was responsible for the incident as it allowed illegal constructions in the city. He asked to pray for the victims who lost their lives.
In March this year, a building collapsed in Golimar area of Karachi that claimed at least 26 lives. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and sought report from the concerned authorities.
