The onset of winters also hails the arrival of traditional winter sweets. Out of the many Pakistani winter staples, the one that tops the list for most people is classic ‘Gajar Ka Halwa’.
Gajar ka halwa or gajrela is an Indian sweet dish made by cooking grated carrots with ghee, khoya, sugar and nuts. Flavored with cardamom powder, this creamy and rich sweet carrot pudding is worth all the time and effort.
It is advised not to have it during summers when the mercury hits 40 degrees all across Pakistan as the heaviness of dessert might make one feel sick. However, since winters are short and intense, they bring with them a craving for sugary tea and for buttery, sweet, slow-cooked halwa. We have sorted out three of the best spots in the metropolis where you can try delicious Gajar ka halwa.
