Three individuals were apprehended while illegally hunting the rare and protected Sulaiman Markhor in the Bostan region of the Pishin district, Balochistan.
Acting promptly on a tip-off, the Levies force arrested the suspects and seized the hunted Markhor, along with their weapons and a vehicle.
The Sulaiman Markhor, a rare species and a protected national asset, was unlawfully hunted in the mountainous terrain of Pishin.
Subsequent to the arrests, the Balochistan Forest and Wildlife Department initiated legal proceedings against the hunters under the Balochistan Wildlife Act of 2014. The accused were brought before Judicial Magistrate-I, who remanded them to the Levies for three days for further investigation.
Officials underscored the necessity of safeguarding endangered species such as the Sulaiman Markhor, which is emblematic of Pakistan’s diverse ecosystem. They reaffirmed the government’s strict stance against poaching and illegal hunting practices.
