The wait is over, finally ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ starring Fawad Khan, and Hamza Ali Abbasi opened globally on October 13 earning rave reviews. With over Rs100 million earnings on the day of its release, the movie is already considered to be one of the best Pakistani films ever.
Directed by Bilal Lashari, the production – the most expensive film to be made in Pakistan – also stars Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick and Mirza Gohar Rasheed in key roles.
Early reviews have praised its excellent direction, acting, cinematography and scale – critics and fans citing how it has set a new standard for the Pakistani film industry.
Undoubtedly, The Legend of Maula Jatt matched the expectations of movie-goers. MM News heard from some of them, and they believed this movie would help the film industry’s revival.
“I’m a huge fan of Fawad Khan,” said a girl who just watched the movie “But the trailer of ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt was absolutely enthralling which impelled me to watch the movie. After a long while we have seen such a movie from Pakistani industry, I’m sure it will be a huge success.”
Most of the movie-goers came to watch the movie with their families and friends. Talking to this reporter, three friends made some interesting comments after watching the movie.
“This is the biggest film,” a girl among the three friends said, “I was waiting for this film for so long and at one point it seemed it wouldn’t be released amid the controversies around the release but finally the film was released, and it will be one of the best Pakistani films.”
Another fan felt proud that finally the Pakistani film industry started making quality movies.
Most of the viewers, we talked to, praised the movies while repeating Maula Jatt’s famous dialogue. However, some thought the movie lacked songs, but others believed having no songs was the best point of the movie.
“Hamza Ali Abbasi was absolutely brilliant,” another viewer opined. “I think Hamza acted better than Fawad Khan.”
However, another viewer chimed in with “Fawad Khan’s acting in the film was outstanding.”
“I can’t point out one character as in Bilal Lashari’s movie, all of his characters never disappoint.” A woman commented.
Viewers from Punjab province told MM News that the characters are from Punjab and the movie represents Punjabi culture. Noori and Daru’s characters they love the most.
Another viewer said he liked the movies so much that he came to watch it for the second time in two days.
Most of the viewers were of the opinion that this movie was 10/10, although a couple of them rate it 9/10.
Viewers loved the fact that it’s a Punjabi language movie. They believed this movie would help revive the glory of Pakistani cinema.
