QUETTA: One terrorist was gunned down and three others suffered injuries during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Gwadar.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the security forces conducted the IBO in Gwadar district of Balochistan.
The suspects opened indiscriminate fire after spotting security personnel, leading to an exchange of gunfire. The crossfire left one terrorist dead on the spot while three others were wounded.
The gunfire continued between the forces and militants for some time after which security forces cordoned off the area.
The military’s press wing said the sanitization of the area is now being carried out to eliminate any remaining terrorists found in the area.
Earlier this month, security forces killed two terrorists during an IBO in Kech district of Balochistan. An injured terrorist was also taken into custody during the operation.
Gwadar is a strategically significant port city and is considered the center of the multi-billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) infrastructure and development project.
