Teacher arrested over rape of female student in Sargodha

SARGODHA: A teacher at a private college has apprehended and booked over the alleged kidnapping and rape of a 17-year-old student in Sargodha on June 26.

According to the information mentioned in the first information report (FIR), the private college teacher — who has been identified and booked by the police — had called the second-year medical student, telling her that classes had restarted.

However, when the young student realized that none of her peers had turned up and decided to return home, the teacher, who taught biology, stopped her and took her to his own flat under the pretense of dropping her home, as per the FIR.

Police said the teacher sexually assaulted the young women during the four hours he held her at his apartment. The accused also made a video of the student before leaving her at the gate of the college in a state of semi-consciousness.

Police informed that the teacher was arrested after an FIR was registered on behalf of the victim’s father on June 28.

Earlier, five employees of a private school in Lahore, who was accused of harassing female students were fired from their jobs, while, the principal, administrator and coordinator were suspended.

Several students said that they were being harassed since 2016 but had decided to report the incidents to the management after it became unbearable.
