Former Chief Minister of Balochistan Naseer Mengal’s son was killed and his grandson injured in a firing incident by unknown assailants in Khuzdar.
According to police, in the mountainous area of Orangi in Khuzdar, unidentified individuals opened fire, killing former Chief Minister Naseer Mengal’s son Ataur Rehman Mengal and injuring his grandson.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Khuzdar, the deceased tribal leader Ataur Rehman Mengal had gone hunting with his son Matiur Rehman, when more than 30 armed individuals opened fire on them.
In recent years, Balochistan has witnessed a rise in incidents of firing and terrorism, leading to the loss of numerous innocent lives. These acts of violence often stem from personal rivalries, tribal conflicts, and land disputes, but are increasingly being fueled by anti-state elements and foreign-backed insurgents who seek to destabilize Pakistan.
Such groups exploit local grievances and target civilians, security forces, and infrastructure, creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity. High-profile killings, such as that of Ataur Rehman Mengal, highlight the dangerous nexus of internal conflicts and external interference that continues to plague the province.
