Los Angeles rapper Kaalan Walker, known for his role in the movie SuperFly, was sentenced to at least half a century behind bars on Monday following conviction at trial of numerous rapes.
Kaalan Walker, 27, was convicted on charges brought by three teenage girls and four women. He was charged in April of three counts of forcible rape, two counts of statutory rape and two counts of rape by intoxication, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
In 2018, Walker was detained on the charges and then released on bail. The actor, who has a TV role in the series In Contempt, used social media sites like Instagram and Twitter to entice his victims by claiming to have connections with people who may aid their modelling careers.
“Mr. Walker’s habit is to make false promises, and they fell for it. According to an article from NBC 4, “Defense attorney Andrew Flier said each of these women deliberately made their own decisions. “He didn’t force them. … It’s payback to Mr. Walker and we’re not going to let that happen.”
Walker shared a credit with Halle Berry and Daniel Craig in the 2017 movie Kings.
