ISLAMABAD: An advertisement has been published in newspapers in the United Kingdom summoning former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to appear in the Azizia Steel Mills and Avenfield references next month.
Both the advertisements of the summons in Azizia Steel Mills and Avenfield Reference have been published in two English newspapers in the light of court orders.
Nawaz Sharif has been directed to appear in court on 24th November through an advertisement. The text of the summons said that Nawaz Sharif was sentenced on 6th July 2018 to 10 years in prison and fine worth millions and that the former prime minister was disqualified from contesting the elections.
The advertisement said that when Nawaz Sharif’s sentence was suspended on 169th September 2018, he was released on bail from jail. An appeal is pending in the Avenfield reference and Nawaz Sharif was required to appear in court.

Arrest warrants were issued to ensure Nawaz Sharif’s presence, which could not be complied with. In the Azizia Steel Mills reference, Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to seven years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1.5 billion. However, in the Azizia reference, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was granted an neight weeks’ bail.
