LAHORE: Sugar is reportedly being sold at Rs. 85 to Rs. 90 per kg in Punjab’s capital.
The district administration stated that the crackdown is being carried out against profiteers on a daily basis. In the wholesale market, the price of sugar is being sold at Rs. 81 to Rs. 83 per kg.
The district administration fixed the rate of sugar at Rs. 70 but no shop in the city is getting sugar at the official rates. The traders said that supply management should pay Rs. 70 per kg for the sale of sugar.
According to the district administration, several actions have been taken against the profiteers in the past days. Six people have also been arrested after imposing a fine of Rs 50,000.
