The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has reported that prices of 12 essential commodities rose across the country during the past week, even as overall weekly inflation recorded a slight decrease of 0.18 percent.
According to the weekly inflation report issued by PBS, prices of 12 items increased, 14 items became cheaper, while 25 items remained stable.
The report noted a 30-paisa per unit rise in electricity charges for the first quarter, raising the rate from Rs4.36 to Rs4.66 per unit.
Among food items, garlic prices rose by 5.15 percent, jaggery by 1 percent, tomatoes by 0.99 percent, and sugar by 0.88 percent during the week.
Moreover, the prices of LPG, firewood, milk, and yogurt also saw an increase.
However, eggs became cheaper by 12.27 percent and chicken by 10.75 percent. Prices of potatoes, flour, onions, and pulses also recorded a decline during the week.
