LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif has strongly criticized the arrest of the party’s senior leader Khawaja Asif, saying that if they think with such tactics the PDM will be weakened, they have no clue.
Speaking to journalists in London, Nawaz Sharif termed Asif’s arrest ‘a drama the likes of which he had never seen in his life’. “What accountability is this? If they think with such tactics the PDM will be weakened, they have no clue,” he added.
“They do not know how to run a country or what accountability is or where they are taking Pakistan,” he said, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan had himself admitted to his inexperience.
“The prime minister had himself admitted that time is required before taking over the government’s reins. Then why have you come?” Nawaz asked.
Earlier today (Tuesday), the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif in assets beyond means case.
The spokesperson of NAB said the PML-N leader had earlier been summoned for an investigation, however; he failed to provide the required evidence.
Asif held an iqama (work permit) from 2004 to 2008, adding that he earned a total of Rs136 million for his services as a consultant legal adviser, the spokesperson added.
