KARACHI: In an unfortunate incident, a seven-year-old girl died after being struck by a stray bullet in Sakhi Hasan area of Bufferzone.
The incident occurred early morning on Thursday morning when the minor girl Mariam Saqib was sitting in the back seat of a car when suddenly a bullet hit her in the head.
According to reports, unknown persons fired from the other side of the road when struck the minor girl who was going to school.
The girl was shifted to a private hospital in critical condition but could not survive. Her family said the body was being shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.
Police initially expressed ignorance of the shooting incident. They said the girl may have received a stray bullet but do not have further information.
Taimoria Police Station later said the incident took place early in the morning. SSP Central Faisal Abdul said further investigation is being done regarding the incident.

Police later arrested a security guard on suspicion of firing the bullet. Police said the guard at a tea stall near the site allegedly opened fire.
SP Gulberg said the guard Ali Raza told police that he opened fire on the robbers. The bullet casings from the guard’s rifle have been taken into custody. Police said that the CCTV footage is being checked to verify the guard’s statement.
Governor Sindh Kamran Tesori took notice of the incident and expressed regret over the death of the girl due to firing and asked for a report on the incident.
