In an effort to enhance convenience for the public, the Sindh government led by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) unveiled the Automated Fare Collection (AFC) system on Saturday.
Through this system, commuters can now pay their bus fares using a smart card on the Peoples Bus Service.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held in Karachi, Sindh Minister for Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon emphasized the government’s commitment to leveraging modern technology to maximize public convenience.
He announced that initially, the smart card could be used on Route 1 and 9 buses, ensuring transparency in fare collection.
Obtaining the digital payment card
- Residents can acquire the smart card by visiting designated customer service centers at Red Bus Karachi stops.
- Payment can be made through Easy Paisa, JazzCash, or any bank account.
- Alternatively, residents can download the official mobile application, enabling easy top-ups and providing real-time updates on bus schedules and routes.
