PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has sought permission to meet incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in jail for consultations on the upcoming provincial budget for the next fiscal year.
According to reports, the chief minister has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court, stating that the budget is a sensitive constitutional, legal, and public interest matter, and therefore permission should be granted to meet Imran Khan.
In his plea, Sohail Afridi said the provincial budget has already been prepared, but its approval is required from Imran Khan, making the meeting necessary.
Meanwhile, KP Advisor for Finance Muzammil Aslam alleged that only six development projects from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been included in the federal development programme, adding that the federal budget contains “nothing” for the province.

According to details, the development marks a significant rift within the ruling party, as internal differences among PTI lawmakers have surfaced publicly. Sources claim that the emergence of this large bloc has created serious challenges for the provincial government, particularly regarding the upcoming budget approval process.
Party insiders further suggest that even PTI founder has expressed dissatisfaction over governance and performance issues, adding to the political pressure already facing Sohail Afridi.
