LAHORE: Inspector General (IG) Punjab Usman Anwar has declined the news circulating on social media regarding the closure of educational institutions and termed it baseless.
According to the Inspector General (IG) Punjab, no instruction has been issued to close schools or colleges, there is no security threat regarding educational institutions.
He said, “Social media is being misused, people should not consider the news posted on social media. All schools and colleges are open, police are providing full security and action will also be taken against those who misuse social media.”
It is pertinent to note that a few days ago, news was circulating on the internet that the government has decided to close the schools and colleges in the country for eight days i.e. from February 4 to February 11 for the smooth conduct of upcoming general elections.
