After befriending a Pakistani youth on social media, a girl who came from Tunisia to Pakistan for marriage has been handed over to the embassy, as reported by national media on Sunday.
According to details, a 19-year-old Tunisian woman, Sunda Ayari, who had sought refuge at the Liaquatabad women’s police station, has been handed over to the embassy. SHO Uzma Khan told the media that two employees of the embassy took the girl with them from the women’s police station.
According to the police, Sunda Ayari arrived in Karachi from Tunisia last November to marry a young man named Amir from Lyari after befriending him on social media.
On November 29, Sunda had a love marriage with Amir, but after a dispute between the husband and wife, Amir divorced her after seven months and left her at a restaurant. Afterward, 19-year-old Sunda Ayari arrived at the Liaquatabad women’s police station, after which an official of the Tunisian embassy contacted SHO Uzma Khan.
According to the SHO, the Tunisian embassy has taken full responsibility for Sunda Ayari’s repatriation and will also arrange her exit permit and return ticket.
