The bodies of six Pakistani victims from the tragic Libya boat disaster have arrived at Bacha Khan Airport in Peshawar.
According to police officials, the ill-fated vessel was carrying 16 individuals from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including six from Kurram, who tragically lost their lives in the incident.
Due to adverse weather conditions, the bodies could not be transported further on the same day and will be airlifted to their hometowns by helicopter tomorrow.
Earlier, Minister for Housing and Works Riaz Hussain Pirzada received the bodies at Islamabad Airport and expressed his deep condolences. He mentioned that the February 5 tragedy had caused immense grief for many families.
Pirzada reassured the mourning families, stating that the government stands with them at every level and is making all necessary arrangements to bring back the bodies of the remaining victims as soon as possible.
Efforts are also underway to repatriate the 37 surviving Pakistanis still stranded in Libya. Pirzada emphasized the dangers of illegal migration, urging young people to avoid perilous journeys to Europe and to pursue legal means for overseas travel to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
The identified victims include Mansoor Hussain, Shoaib Ali, Abid Hussain, and Musab Hussain from Parachinar, as well as Muhammad Ali Shah from Orakzai district. So far, 16 bodies have been identified, and 10 victims remain missing.
