KARACHI Caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh, Justice (Retd) Maqbool Baqar on Friday announced significant benefits for Palestinian students enrolled in educational institutions within the Sindh province.
He highlighted that currently, 48 Palestinian students are pursuing their education in various government engineering and medical colleges across the province.
Baqar took the initiative to waive the tuition and hostel fees for these Palestinian students, demonstrating a supportive gesture toward their educational pursuits. Additionally, he directed universities to facilitate and organize scholarships for Palestinian students, further enhancing their educational opportunities.
It is worth mentioning here that the Pakistani government reserves 50 seats for Palestinian students in universities across the country: 13 are for medicine, 4 for dentistry, 23 for engineering, and 10 for pharmacy. Eight scholarships are also offered. Over 45,000 Palestinian students have graduated from universities and institutes in Pakistan.
