Karachi: Istihkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) Sindh chapter President Mehmood Moulvi said on Friday that the price of flour in Karachi has been reduced to Rs.120 per kg following a substantial price cut.
In a message on X, Moulvi said that due to persistent efforts by the interim government and Commissioner Karachi, the retail price of flour has dropped significantly from Rs 175 per kg to Rs 128 per kg. Furthermore, the wholesale price has seen a reduction, now standing at Rs 120 per kg.
Moulvi expressed gratitude, stating that this reduction will greatly benefit the public, alleviating some of the economic burdens they face.

However, in a contrasting move, the District East administration took immediate action by imposing a ban on all thrift markets within the district. The Deputy Commissioner of Karachi’s West Zone has ceased the issuance of NOCs (No Objection Certificates) for every thrift market. This measure is part of a verification process, after which new NOCs will be issued to all administrators.
These thrift markets, traditionally a source of relief from inflation for the local population, have faced restrictions due to this administrative move.
The reduction in flour prices is anticipated to positively impact the residents, while the regulatory actions on thrift markets might have mixed implications for the local economy.
