KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has confirmed that provincial health officials reported 1388 coronavirus cases and 42 deaths during the last 24 hours.
Sindh reported on Tuesday 42 more deaths due to COVID-19 taking the toll to 1614. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said the death rate of the province increased from 1.6% to 1.7% after new deaths were reported.
The CM further said in the last 24 hours, 1388 people have tested positive for COVID-19. Sindh has so far recorded 97,626, cases.
Murad Ali Shah further said that 1,480 more patients had recovered from the infection, raising the total number of recovered patients in the province to 53,888.
“This leaves 38,417 patients under treatment, among whom 36,515 are home-isolated, 299 are in isolation centres and 1,603 in hospitals”, he added. He said that among the patients under treatment, 733 were critically ill with 98 on ventilators.
Pakistan has reported 2,691 coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, taking the national tally of infections to 234,508 on Tuesday.
As per the detail, 77 deaths were reported during the past 24 hours, taking the tally of casualties to 4,839. According to the National Command and Operation Centre, 94,713 COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment while 134,957 patients have recuperated from the disease thus far.
