Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan ‘danger’ to the democracy, economy, and the nation.
LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto has criticized the PTI-led federal government over a cut in the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) funding.
The PPP Chairman took to Twitter today (Tuesday) and said, “Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s (PTI) consistent assault on HEC funding is having very real consequences at a time medical universities are at the frontline battling COVID-19 pandemic.”
Bilawal Bhutto further that the federal government had reduced HEC funding in the last budget and refused to significantly raise funding in this year’s budget too.

In another Tweet, Bilawal Bhutto said, “This means students fees will continue to shoot up and staff salaries will be cut, eventually some universities will be forced to shut.” He further termed PTI’s agenda as anti-education.
The PPP Chairman also said that the federal government has not even bothered to support medical universities and teaching hospitals during the global pandemic.
Earlier, the federal government allocated Rs 64.1 billion for the Higher Education Commission for the new fiscal year, despite the promise of allocating Rs70 billion. The federal HEC had demanded an allocation of Rs104.789 billion as a recurring grant for the fiscal year 2020-2021.
