Karachi: The Pakistan Customs department has come under fire after confiscating a Sindh government vehicle, citing it as “non-custom paid.”
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon condemned the action, asserting that officials provided all necessary documentation to prove the vehicle was purchased through authorized channels of the Indus Motor Company. Despite these efforts, the vehicle was still taken into custody, leading to questions about the competence of the Customs authority.
In a statement posted on X, Memon highlighted, what he called, the “incompetency and unacceptable behavior” displayed towards a provincial government department. He emphasized that such actions jeopardize the relationship between provincial and federal authorities and called for immediate corrective measures.

The Minister demanded that Pakistan Customs promptly release the confiscated vehicle and issue a written apology to the Sindh government. This incident raises concerns over the governance and coordination between federal and provincial institutions, highlighting the need for improved dialogue and understanding to avoid further misunderstandings.
The Ministry has yet to receive an official response from Pakistan Customs regarding the situation.
