LARKANA: Incompetence of Pakistan Peoples party’s Sindh government is again in the spotlight as over 1.6 million tons of wheat stock stored in in the government warehouses in Larkana division has been damaged amid the upcoming food crisis in the wake of unprecedented flood-devastation across the country.
As per details, the Sindh government failed to protect 600,000 tons of wheat stored in a warehouse along with a million of wheat lying open under the sky in Larkana district from rains, ARY News reported on Tuesday.
As Sindh already experiencing unprecedented high flour prices, It is anticipated that flour costs, which are now being sold at Rs120 per kg due to damage to the wheat stock, would reach Rs200 per kg in the near future.
Following the setting of the Rs4,000 wheat support price by the Sindh government, wheat is also being hoarded at this time.
Karachi Wholesalers Grocers Association (KWGA) Chairman Abdul Rauf Ibrahim feared a flour crisis across the country and expecting prices to reach Rs200 per kilogram.
In an interview with a local news outlet, KWGA Chairman Abdul Rauf Ibrahim predicted that the nation would soon have a flour crisis. He predicted that the price of flour would increase by Rs200 per kg.
