ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Saffron and Narcotics Shehryar Khan Afridi has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, which has affected more than 66,000 people across the country.
Shehryar Khan Afridi confirmed the news on Twitter and wrote that he has kept himself in an isolation at home.

He requested the nation pray for his speedy recovery. “I need prayers and blessings. May Allah almighty help save all my countrymen from the pandemic.”
Shehryar Afridi is among the politicians who have been infected with the deadly virus. Earlier, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser PML-N MPA Shaukat Manzoor Cheema, National Party (ANP) Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Saeed Ghani, Sindh’s Provincial Minister Ghulam Murtaza Baloch, and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Atta Ullah Tarar were also diagnosed with coronavirus.
The country confirmed 78 more deaths from novel coronavirus during the last 24 hours as the nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 1,395 today.
According to the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), the virus was confirmed in 2,429 people during the past 24 hours, taking the nationwide tally to 66,457.
Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan.
