LAHORE: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif is expected to meet Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) leaders – a key ally of the incumbent PTI government – as the opposition decides on bringing a no-confidence motion against the prime minister.
Sources revealed that PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif will visit the residence of PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and inquire about his health. They are also expected to discuss the current political situation and the opposition’s planned move to bring a no-trust motion against the prime minister.
Shehbaz Sharif is also expected to seek the PML-Q support for the no-confidence move to oust the prime minister. The PML-Q will call a party meeting after meeting the opposition leader.
Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has announced to bring a no-trust move against the prime minister and decided to initiate contacts with PTI allies and coalition parties.
Separately on Saturday, PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman met PML-Q leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Pervaiz Elahi and asked them to support the opposition in its no-confidence motion
On February 7, former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari had met with PML-Q leadership in Lahore. PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Punjab Assembly Speaker Parvez Elahi, Moonis Elahi, and federal minister Tariq Bashir Cheema were present in the meeting.
