LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has criticised the government’s decision to increase the tax on petroleum products.
While criticising the incumbent government’s performance, Shehbaz Sharif stressed that the state increased the petroleum levy by 106%. The parliament should investigate, he added.
He said that an overcharge on diesel by Rs25, petrol by Rs19 and an increase in the levy of kerosene oil by 105.5 percent was the height of cruelty with the people.
Moreover, the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentary leader in the Senate Sherry Rehman earlier rejected the government’s decision as well. The oil prices in the world market were falling, she added.
Reacting to the government’s decision to increase the petroleum tax by 106 percent, Rehman said that taxes were increasing on petroleum products in New Pakistan while petroleum products should be cheaper.
