Former Pakistan’s skipper Shahid Afridi has joined the “star-studded” roster of ambassadors for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies which begins on June 1.
Afridi joined a distinguished lineup of ambassadors, featuring cricket luminaries such as Indian maestro Yuvraj Singh, the electrifying Chris Gayle, and the iconic sprinter Usain Bolt, adding his illustrious legacy to the mix.
Renowned for his pivotal role in Pakistan’s journey to the inaugural T20 World Cup final in 2007 and their triumphant campaign in 2009, Afridi’s association with the tournament is deeply entrenched in history.
Recalling his cherished moments from past tournaments, Afridi expressed his eagerness to contribute as an ambassador in the upcoming edition. “The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup holds a special place in my heart,” Afridi reminisced. “From clinching the Player of the Tournament title in the inaugural edition to lifting the trophy in 2009, some of the most unforgettable memories of my career were made on this prestigious stage.”
