ISLAMABAD: The Senate on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution expressing support and solidarity for China in the fight against the deadly coronavirus, which has taken over 1000 lives in mainland China so far.
The motion, tabled by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Senator Mushahid Hussain, claimed that the upper house respects President Xi Jinping’s great leadership leading a major operation to fight against the deadly coronavirus in the country.

“The Senate expresses its gratitude to the Chinese Government for protecting Pakistani people, particularly students Wuhan, providing them with security and ease. In this difficult time of the coronavirus epidemic, the Senate expressed full cooperation to Chinese brethren.”
While in the response of passing the resolution, the Chinese deputy director-general in the ministry of foreign affairs, Lijian Zhao took on social media and said, “Thank you Pakistan! An iron brother indeed! Senate of Pakistan passed unanimously a resolution expressing full solidarity & support to China in combating Coronavirus, sponsored by Senator Mushahid Hussain. Pakistan Senate is the first Parliament to express such support to China.”
